I read this book years ago in school and it has haunted me ever since. The character portrayals, so rich and atypical, are solid reading for youngsters and adults alike. And the emotions in the story read as genuine, not trite or melodramatic as is the case with so much contemporary fiction, young adult on up. I recommend this book for both children and parents alike, or book fans in general. I have to grab a copy of DVD to check out the movie :)

This book was a gift from a very dear friend. Its a routine that my friends gift me books for all the special occassion in my life. The reason being I feel books any kind are the most treasured gift one can get. This books title actually was unlike anything I had heard, but as I have told in my previous reviews never judge a book by its title and cover, I repeat myself again. I completed this book in three hours. Read More »

After reading The Ring I was determined to read its sequels.I was a bit disappointed with the translation, but then once you get involved in the book its hard to notice. Spiral, is a story in it own league. Its really more interesting than its prologue. Koji Suzuki is so talented. I have no words to describe. The story blends the supernatural and sciene in a way that seems completely and frighteningly believable. It was a worthwhile read.

A Thousand Splendid Suns

thousand.jpg Love may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you consider the war-ravaged landscape of Afghanistan. Last year I read The Kite Runner, I was glued on to the book. So, I was more than anxious to read the second book by Khaled Hosseini. I can’t say I was disappointed but I loved The kite Runner more than this book. The protoganists in this book are two women in Afghanistan. Set in the back drop of Afghan, the author exploits the situation of the women in the country in the hands of the men. Life was not easy for them even before Taliban. Its definetly emotional and touching. I am anxiously waiting for his next book to see what he is going to deliver to the readers again.
