I really enjoyed this book and as a pratchett fan I feel that it is definatly one of his best. Vlad the Vampire is a fantastic character, intriguing, dangerous and (this isn’t just my opinion, Terry Pratchett himself said in reply to a letter I wrote that it was intentional) very Sexy. I also felt that Agnes was an asset to the book as I was able to relate to her. Read More »

I have read every book terry Pratchett has written including the “Johnny”books, and am a little dissappointed with this one. He still keeps the lovable dark sarcasm and wit which strikes at the wonderful stupidity of todays world. The problem is he seems to have wandered (no pun intended)a bit this time as the narrative is less sharp and inventive. Terry Pratchett once again uses his wonderful dry humor to take a look at a serious topic – and make us all laugh. Pratchett holds up a mirror to the failings of mankind, reintroducing us to past favorites(the Patrician, Commander Vimes, Carrot, Nobby) as they struggle to prevent war from breaking out. Of course, each of them has very different views on HOW this should be done…or even IF it should be done… I laughed ’til I cried as this wonderful cast of characters trudged doggedly through the pages, each determined To Do Their Duty in their highly individual ways.

Everytime I read a new Discworld book, I am ready to declare it my favorite. This time, however, I may have found it. Hogfather brings back dear old Death in a stunning red suit stuffed with pillows. He is filling in for the missing Hogfather, while his granddaughter Susan (who never tells children that monsters don’t exsist – she KNOWS they do!) searches for the real Hogfather. And of course the zany wizards, Read More »
