This is another winning book by Barbara Kingsolver. It is informative and highly entertaining. The Kingsolver family was very successful in eating locally and reducing their ‘footprint’ on the ecosystem in comparison with the average American. Obviously most of us are not going to devote ourselves to the degree that they did, but EVERYONE CAN make changes that improve their impact on the environment by better food choices. I was disappointed in this, the latest sequel to Charlaine Harris’ ‘Sookie Stackhouse’ series. There were too many sub plots, and not enough interaction with all the characters we have come to know and love. The great grandfather plot was strange from the start. I kept waiting for the real Sookie to stand up, but it never happened. I noticed the same thing in her last Harper/Grave series. Please return to your original format – I love Ms. Harris’ books, but I felt that I had waited for a book written by someone else.

Just finished reading this book and found it compelling and entertaining. After reading it I have rediscovered my interest in the Peanuts classic cartoon strip. Think what you may about the author’s portrayal of Sparky, this is a good biography that presents a vivid portrait of a man consumed by his desire to be liked and his life long passion at being the best at his craft.
